HAPPY #1 BIRTHDAY!!!!

Dickinson had a wonderful birthday! We threw him on the boat at 9:30 am and finally came in around 5. He played on the beach all day! We had a big boat day with all the grandparents and the Cridlins.

Dickinson and Thornton at the Plantation Light. We road out in the bay first thing in the morning since it was really calm and watched sailboats.

My first and last cake I will ever, ever bake. Way too much trouble.

Grandad Tayloe, Dickinson, and Bill- up to no good.

BIG NEWS!!!!! On Dickinson's birthday he decided to start walking while holding your hands! He loves doing it and stomps around staring at his feet. Grandmom Tayloe made this discovery his birthday morning!

More of Summer

Thornton caught a Dickinson size croaker on Sunday. Dickinson just wanted to taste it.

Dad just got back from Cuba on the laser. He stopped off to see us before heading to the dock.
He also gave Dickinson his first sailing lesson, which focused mainly on knots.
The laser, the Anne K. and the privateer.
Dickinson sat still for a 5 second photo op.

Aunt Mary in from Richmond for a visit. No clue who that guy is behind her. He followed her from I-64.

Bye Dad.
Last weekend my cousin Jessica and her boyfriend Jim visited for a fun-filled Eastern Shore experience.

Last week we went to Beck and Tayloe and had lunch. Dickinson almost smuggles away on a UPS truck.

Last Friday we had a big beach day. Thornton and John Sulliva walked down briefly on their lunch break to say hi.

Living off the land

Tonight we will have a delicious dinner of grilled spade fish thanks to these mighty fishermen. Buck and Thornton had a very successful spear fishing adventure last night.

This will be Thornton's dinner.

This will be my dinner.

The Box

Dad brought home a box for Dickinson and cut out a door and a window. He loves it. He closes the door and peeks out the window.

We have tried to get him to use the door handle, but he just doesn't get it. Then he doesn't understand why the door won't close all the way with his fingers in the crack.

A Water Baby

On Sunday afternoon Dickinson took a nap under a tree and then had a snack on the porch.

On Monday after work we went out for an evening swim and a boat ride. Dickinson loves to drive the truck.

On Tuesday we went to the pool. Dickinson played for an hour with these toys in the baby pool. Best 4 dollars I ever spent. Nothing like sporting water wings that are bigger than your head.

A visit from Mary Beth Hallet

The Hallets came for the weekend. Dickinson and Shackelford both loved Mary Beth. Southey was indifferent, of course.

Mary Beth ate her dinner in Dickinson's bumbo seat among the bourbon, zinnias, and local tomatoes.
Dickinson magically developed a greater affinity for this toy after Mary Beach was using it.
This is where we tried to encourage Dickinson to go around the baby and not over her.
